First of all, we want to apologize for the delay of the report. As most of you guys know, rollTogether stands for high quality (in terms of their edits, pictures, sessions etc.) and as you also know "quality takes time". But here we are. Sorry again for the delay! On the 11th of April, it was the time for the next rollTogether and people from all over Germany, the Netherlands and even from Canada made their way to Aurich, which is in the northwest of Germany. I (Maik Lojewski) decided to drive all the way on friday morning to meet up with the rest of the crew and to have a funny night together in our house which we rented for the whole weekend. (Actually the house was admitted to six people, but somehow eleven people ended up sleeping there - it was fun)
At first I met up with Etienne Vogel. We picked up Roland Wander and Tim Beckhold from the train station in Leer - as you can imagine - a lot of fun inclusive. We drove down to the Skatepark and had one of the best sessions since a long time! All that with just 4 guys, it was amazing. Due to the good weather the park was almost empty. So the owner decided to close the park earlier that day - anyways we were exhausted as hell and happy to catch some food. In the meantime our team members Olli and Lars (including his girlfriend) as well as Michi, Tom (our official filmer for that day), Andy and our Canadian style-import Max Valence were on their way to our rental house.
We met up there and checked the house, had some fun while talking nonsense and decided to have the evening of our lifes. So we drove to some pub and bought meat for a barbecue which should be happening later that night at the seaside! After getting some danish lager beer called "Faxe" (rollTogether-tradition) we arrived at the very nice ocean, started our illegal barbecue and some of us risked their life while walking through the tideland in the darkness. I think I can speak for everyone of us: It was still one of the best days and especially evenings of our lifes. As we got home, some of us went to bed, others didn't stop drinking - they decided to have an all-night party. The next day we got up early because we had to prepare the park with banners, the slackline and some other stuff organizers have to do! As the park is in the middle of nowhere and the weather was way too good for a park session not as much people as expected showed up - but still enough to have an unforgettable session.
Incredible and hard tricks went down: we had desaster stuff at the big box, some big transfers and crazy switchups as well as just stylish tricks everywhere in that huge and amazing park. It was cool to see even the beginners skating the big box side to side with the pros who showed up, even if they just landed a soul after 10 tries everyone gave their props and the mood was very chilled and relaxed.
Roland Wander from Kassel was flowing around as usual and you could really see the fun he had in his face, Assia Zaharieva from Münster (who is supporting since day one) pushed her limits again and Felix from Osnabrück impressed me once more. Max Valence from Canada laced tricks and spins with one of the smoothest styles I’ve seen so far, Edwin "The HELL" Wieringh did the craziest desaster spin tricks (every trick with so much ease and precision), Joery van der Poel had the best and most powerful bowl lines, Christian Hecker (local from Laten) skated every single spot in the park and defended his home territory like no one else, but one person completely stood out: Etienne Vogel! We were lucky that this guy put his techno-party aside and decided to join our little adventure. He amazed everyone in the park: biggest transfers with clean 900° and the highest wallrides, watch out for the edit. But nevertheless even the younger kids laced some hammers and received their free goodies. We ended up with another barbecue, but some of us were so exhausted, that they fell asleep as fast as you can say “Faxe”.
All in all we had another great rolltogether-session and I would like to thank all the visitors and skaters who joined us that day. On behalf of all skaters I give the biggest props to our sponsors who made rollTogether happen again. Thank you Tom (Arkon) for this wonderful edit and all the hard work you put in there! rollTogether #9 Aurich from Rolltogether on Vimeo. To all other people: Make sure to come to the next session: It will be our anniversary session which will turn out as a big summer start off! So be prepared and watch out! Much love, Maik Lojewski and Oliver Nermerich
