Hello guys, rolltogether session number ONE took place yesterday in Hasselt, at one of europe's biggest concrete parcs. Despite the bad weather forecast for this weekend a lot of fruitbooters showed up. I guess it was like more than 60 rollerbladers that made their way to Hasselt. For sure, there were a lot of belgian guys. The dutch guys were a little bit reserved in terms of traveling at this day. But those ones that came - especially timmy from eindhoven - were killing it! Some young kids (Jason) from the netherlands also showed their skills in the parc. He got a shirt from grindhouse because he did not stop skating and it was really good to see that we can expect some new talents very soon. Of course germany made their way to hasselt. People from Hamm, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Essen, Wuppertal, Gelsenkirchen - the whole west part of germany - came for this session. And it was worth it. Cause the more we came closer to hasselt the weather got better and better. We arrived around 12:30 pm in Hasselt and the sun were shining on this sweet long rail and our necks! Some locals already skated the parc and were really happy to see some more rollerbladers. 2 hours later I could not believe it but the parc was packed by rollerbladers! Perfect condition for a session. For sure the session started at the rollerbladers famous spot: the long rail which goes down along the artificial turf. It was ridicolous how many tricks were laced at this spot. Anthony Pottier just did his 360 soul grinds to switch soul grind to something different - with so much ease. His fellow-countryman, Bart van Wulpen, who came a little bit later and was still drunk just danced on the rail. Every time he jumped on the rail you see all the guys looking at him and clapping: torque slide to truespin top acid to switch top acid to 180 off were just one trick out of his very own repertoire. But some germans, especially tim and schichy from hamm, were not less noticeable. Those guys really skated their ass off! Tim was the first guy that got a grindhouse shirt cause he tried so hard. After landing a bunch of other crazy stuff he tried 360 top soul on the rail with so much speed - but kept falling so hard all the time! For his strong ambition and for his courage he got rewarded with the first give-away! He was also the first guy that skated a nice line through the park that ended with a huge 540 over a box in the flat. Nice Job! Timmy from Eindhoven stayed in my mind as well. This guy skates with so much style - it is so fun to watch it: He got brand new grindhouse wheels after doing an truespin miszou to 180 top soul - standing on it all gangsta! There was another guy, Thomas, from belgium that draw attention to himself with outstanding skating. While others did fastslides down the rail he grinded it up all proper! After doing his intense full speed fastslide he did truespin top soul and truespin top porn and the craziness happened when he tried to jump up the gap where the rail goes down! Oh my god! That was too much for everyone! There were some young kids from belgium that showed outstanding skating on the rail - measured to their age. I had fun following Vincent from Liege with the camera because his lines were so creative and full of good skating. I said to him: "Keep going" and he kept landing tricks! Jan from Gelsenkirchen catched my eye because of his numerous switch ups! He skated good at this day! There is this one guy called Maarti, who just started skating 6 months ago. He tried so hard on the rail and finally got rewarded with his first landed savanahh. At the end of the day he bleeded on both of elbows but left the parc with a big smile on his face! GOOD STUFF! Grindhouse was represented by Madame Tussauds' wax figure "Patrick Justin Smith". I have never seen a guy in my entire life that is so obsessed by waxing. But it actually worked out: His truespin fishys received applause all the time. Grindhouse team riders "Maik Lojewski" and "Bruno Willemarck" were not only focussed on the rail, they flowed through the whole parc with a lot of creativity. All in all it was an awesome day and I am happy that so many people came out to skate and share their passion. I have to say a special thank you to our sponsor GRINDHOUSE. It is good to have a strong skateshop in your back. Thank you for promoting and supporting the event! I have to thank everybody else that took a long ride to Hasselt. In the next days you will find a lot of pictures on this website from the event. The pictures our Photographer Lars Echterhoff took:
